Default BES problem Lotus Notes BES version 2.2

Please Login to Remove!

I received my new Blackberry 8700c last night from Cingular. I am upgrading from the 7100. I migrated the SIM card without any problems. The phone part works great. I then started configuring it to connect to our BES server. I got everything working (receiving emails, address lookup, and Calendar Sync) except being able to send mails from my 8700c (through the BES). I get a mail router error return message everytime I try to respond to an email through our BES. We are using Lotus Notes 6.5. I am able to send messages using the Web Client without any issues.

For some reason the BES server on my device put some funny characaters in front of my email address and behind it. We are running BES version 2.2. Here is what I get when trying to send mail:
[email address]0xLF2827zTesting0xL1A4z0xLF24z

This happens either replying to emails or creating a new email. It also happens when I put in the full internet email address.

I have called Cingular and was on the phone with RIM for a while. We reinstalled the handheld software. Now i get this mail router error message:

No route found to domain #2038CDE2 C™øö from server <server name>. Check Server, Connection and Domain documents in the Domino Directory.

I have had my BES Admin completely remove me from the BES server and re-add me.

I also deleted my Desktop (CMIME) service book entry and that didn't solve the problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

8700 runs the new 4.1 handheld code and the older 2.2 BES doesn't know how to handle the emails from this device. Upgrade your BES to SP6.

Can't see it on their web site, but we were notified by Vodafone. I contacted RIM direct and this is their response.

"Please note that the end of sale of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 2.2 will expire be the end of this fiscal year 2005 (December 31, 2005). It is not expected that there will be any service pack or hot fix to this version beyond the mentioned date.

For any support issues, we will offer best effort support for a limited time. Typically best effort support is offered for roughly 6 months after the end of sale. Support may include an escalation to our intermediate team or log review depending on the severity of the issue in order to determine if there is a software related problem.

Thank you for using BlackBerry Technical Support.

Sincerely,

BlackBerry Technical Support
