Default Storm V Storm2

Please Login to Remove!

Morning all,

myself and another user here been experiencing severe problems with ourstorm, constantly dropping calls and losing signal etc.

According to our a/c manager we can both get upgrades to the Storm 2 for half price because of the issues. My question is, are they worth it or would i be better going for different BlackBerry Units?

Suggestions and responses welcomed!!

Have you perused the 9500 forum? That is one good way to get some info.
You can also go to the RIM website and get a side-by-side comparison of both models.

I would go for the Storm2 only *if* their version of 1/2 price does not mean half price off of the list price for the device.

Make sure that you have the latest OS for the Storm installed. By all reports, the later OS builds solves a lot of problems that people originally had when they bought their device. If an upgraded OS does not solve your problem, then 1/2 off sounds like a deal!

I am using the Vodafone version of the Storm 2 and it is definitely a much better phone than the first Storm. If you like the first Storm but want a better touchscreen experience the Storm 2 delivers. It isn't perfect, but no BlackBerry is, yet it is certainly better than the first Storm and I prefer using it over my 9700 for certain things.

Gatecrash,

what OS building are you running? Are you also in an area with limited coverage?

My Storm 1 is running great on the latest OS build but the previous versions had issues, connectivity being one of them.

Going to the Storm 2 may not necessarily correct your problems if you are in an area with limited connectivity.

I own a 9500 and the latest os version i have installed is the 5.0.0.425 i'm not sure if this is the os u have installed but everything is running flawlessly. memory consumption is so much better now 28mb used previously compared to the now barely touching 20mb (yeap uploaded apps and active progs as it was when i had .402) calls are so much stability now in terms of stability (not that it was a problem before this but the quality of calls have definitely improved a notch).

I would have to say try a clean os upgrade and see how it goes?

Oh and I would like to add that after playing around with it since my last OS upgrade the battery life seems to have been improved somewhat. Compared to my regular messing around after 4-5 hours which usually puts me at 50-60% batt i'm still at 85% now.

why not u and ur buddy give it a shot if it's not already installed?

the storm 2 is great (own one as well. lol dont ask me why i have 2 storms i was so tempted to get the storm 2 after getting my storm 1 just to test it out and stuck with both now) but the 9500 is getting more updates from what I can see and it is performing somewhat on-par with the storm 2 with the exception of wi-fi and touchpad upgrades as well as the 2 keys at once capability i dont see a reason to switch unless clean os upgrade doesnt fix it.

and is it still under warranty?

edited: didn't realise .428 is out for the storm 2 =P correct that ^^ gonna try it out
