Post AT&T BlackBerry Maps for 8900

Please Login to Remove!

ok time go go with bullets on this one. (easier on the eyes)
  1. I have a Curve 8900 with a 4.6.1.315
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. I know that its not hidden so please don't make any posts saying "hit your menu button and click show all, and look in your folders"
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. From what Ive read I believe that AT&T has locked BBMaps.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. Had a similar situation with my 8310 Curve with AT&T but if i remember right all we had to do then was delete a service book and re-download it.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  5. Yes i know about Google Maps. it's free it's a great GPS program too, but BBMaps has its advantages. Its simple so it loads quicker. and it shows your speed
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6. I'm not sure "if" we can get Blackberry Maps to work with AT&T on the 8900, or even send me a link. but ive been googling my fingers off for a few hours now and thought I would leave it in your hands. Good luck and thanks in advance.

We all know that even though the icon for BB maps is no where to be found, the program is still on the phone. GLN has made a free app that gives you an icon to launch BB maps that is not service book dependent. Here's the link. http://www.gln.bz/ads.nsf/bbmapslaunch.jad

Enjoy.

I got the icon to appear by clicking the link to install BB Maps at http:mmmobile.blackberry.com. The download installed lbs_ribbon and I was done.

This will work for awhile, but if service books are sent out, you have to re-register your phone or upgrade the OS. It is gone again and you have to reload it again. It also isn't always an option to downlaod from that site. I have found it is random and sometimes it is the version for 4.2 and earlier.

The trouble free, one time and done way is the Launcher program I left a link for.

Glad you have it working. I would not delete the BB Maps Launcher icon, it has been my experience that once service books are sent out the original BB Maps icon will go away again. The Launcher icon won't, but the maps will still work. Good luck.
