I am new to the BB world and a manager offered a refurb for free if I buy a accessorie pack for $50. I am wondering if I am making a bad choice in not shooting for the 8900 or 9700. Processor speeds, 2g-3g, etc. I am thinking I dont want to feel "stuck" 3 months from now when I become a CrackBerry fiend like I so feel I am gonna be. The phone would be for IM, Text, calls, and short internet needs. I wont need a "fun" phone like a IPhone for multimedia. I used my buddies 8300 alot this last year and it never felt limited. I do realize that with having my phone I will go app crazy at first.
I guess I need to know if the 83XX series is dinosaur equipment now?
If it were me I would get the newest/best model available. You will have the benefit of getting the most recent updates and the added longevity of service and support.
As far as comparing it to an iphone, the BB is fun, just not as flashy. They are big into multimedia as you will find out. I watch movies, listen to internet radio, play music, browse the web and communicate as well as my friends on their iphones... I just don't have that one app that looks like a light saber and makes the whooshing noise when you move the phone around... really upset about that one.
lol at the light saber. I do see yer guys points about older gen and new / better. He really wasnt hooking me as I see on at&t it goes for $9.99 brand new. Walmart has the 9000 for $19.99. Anyone using the 8520 it seems like a good phone 512mhz, 256, 4.6.1, only 2g though
