Default BlackBerry Messaging Agent

Please Login to Remove!

This has been brought to my attention users are having issues with sending mail through their BB, when they try and send it comes back with a Red x if they resend it will go through (sometimes they have to retry more than once) I have looked at the BES server and noticed the event log is getting flooded with the following

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent XYZ Agent 2
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20717
Date: 17/02/2010
Time: 4:30:18 PM
User: N/A
Computer: XYZ

Description:
MailboxManager::CreateProfile (BES_CDO_7012_7) - ConfigureMsgService (80040115) - Ensure that IPv6 is disabled on the Exchange Server or configure the BES to use the closest global catalog server

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Server 2008

IPV6 can cause an agent to crash and can cause the netbios to resolve improperly. I don't think you can remove IPV6 from Server 2008, but you can disable it. Google that and you can find the steps. There is also a regedit change you can add as well.

Check your Controller logs to see if you see something like this. Checkout KB04646.

[20000] (11/15 09:37:05):{0x9F4} Unable to query service status of Dispatcher 'IS2' at \\127.0.0.1: 6

Cyclmpc,

I am getting this error code:
[20000] (10/05 10:56:57.254):{0x2BC} Could not connect to Service Control Manager at \\127.0.0.1: 1722
in your post, have you figured out what is the cause of this and a solution? I have looked over several KB articles and onlined with RIM and we havent come up with a solution. I am also getting a controller error:

Unable to connect to Dispatcher 'BLACKBERRY'

I have tried talking to RIM and have troubleshot several articles and now they want me to rebuild the server.

If your still around, please let me know your findings.

Thanks

I don't know why yet but check the subnet of both your exchange server and your bes server. We are finding they need to be the same. For those of you who do not know what a subnet is, look at the second set of digits of the IP address. ie if the exchange servier is 10.20.xx.xx, then the BES server should be also.

If anyone can explain why, I'd be greatful.

I have similar problems with my BES setup

BES 5.0 SP1 running on windows 2008 x64
Exchange 2007 SP2, also on windows 2008 x 84

Globla catalog servers windows 2008 x64 and windows 2003 R2

first I ran through KB16118 KB16118-How to turn on global catalog referrals for a Microsoft Exchange Server

I made the registry changes to improve GC referral handling but to my surprise the registrey keys revert themselves back to origional values

now I stumbled onto this post

BES NIC has indeed RSS enabled, i will disbale this feature and see how it goes

Did you make the chage for GC while logged in with BESAdmin and stop BES services?

BAS wont open on 2008?
KB23927-BlackBerry Administration Services continually stop and restart after an operating system hotfix is applied

so last night I made the server with issues a primary server and so far so good, but I am still stumped by registry keys being reset to original values

so disabling RSS could be the key here?

when i applied the NSPI changes, my primary BES server started to work perfect after a reboot, but passive node had issues still. when i failover to passive node i got all sorts of MAPI and dispatcher errors, so failback to working server, some more digging got me to this http://www.blackberryforums.com/bes-...ispatcher.html

and Bingo, knock on the wood everything is running OK for now.
