BIS authentication fails after network drop?

I wonder if anyone can offer a solution to this annoying issue. While we wait for licenses etc to build a BPS server, I still have 7 BB's setup using BIS connecting by OWA to our Exchange 2007 server.
If there is a network outage at our site or if the Exchange server crashes for a while overnight some of the BB's go into a state where they cannot get email. The fix is that I have to log into each one in BIS, click edit then save which re-connects the user and email can flow again.
Is there a setting either in BIS or on the BB itself that will re-connect to the domain without me having to do it manually?
We use BB Storm 8900's and a Curve all on the O2 plan.
