Hello all, first time poster. I recently upgraded to the Bold 9700 from the 9000 (sticking trackball was drving me mad!). I 've noticed a few things while sending sms text messages that really bug me. First, while typing it seems to automatically add a (.) after every word, it appears to be some weird type of auto-fill, how do I disable this?

Secondly, is there any way to change the text layout? The new layout looks more like the BBM interface than a text message. Any help on the these two issues would be greatly appreciated!

2nd issue, no thats the way it is now and may or may not be changeable with a future OS upgrade.

the 1st issue is strange, however double pressing the space bar produces a . so is it possible its over-sensitive and its interpreting your key press as 2 key presses?

I tried lowering the sensitivity but it's still doing it, I was also careful not to double tap the spacebar. It doesn't do it after every word but enough to be an annoyance. Is there a way to stop it from automatically adding a period when you double tap the space bar? This may solve my issue.

Don't believe so, but Im not familiar with OS 5 options.

cant change the double tap period. i have no clue why its adding one without double tap though.

Not sure if removing the double tap (this is done if rapidly double-tapping). If you pause between entering SPACE then it won't register; and shouldn't if you have OS .421/423 or higher.

Curious about the single tap ... maybe you should check your autotext entry's I'm wondering if you messed with a new entry there??

Try upgrading your fimware to the most recent (after a FULL backup) and see if this remedy's your issues.

PS I didn't like the threaded layout at ALL, but it grew on me over time and its actually implemented QUITE well.
