I am in the process of upgrading my BES 3.6 to BES 4.0 and have been reviewing tons of documentation and I have the BES upgrade down pretty clear. However, I am still unclear as to the process of upgrading from MSDE7 to MSDE2000. I have searched microsoft and here for instructions but have not come up with anything that concisely documents the procedure. Does anyone have instructions on how to upgrade from MSDE 7 to MSDE 2000? What impact will this upgrade be on the BES during that time? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Uninstall MSDE 7
Install MSDE 2000a (setup.exe SAPWD="<password you choose>")
Start MSSQL Server Service
Attach Database:
Run osql -E
1>EXEC sp_attach_db @dbname = 'besmgmt',
2>@filename1 = 'C:\MSSQL7\Data\besmgmt.mdf',
3>@filename2 = 'C:\MSSQL7\Data\besmgmtlog.ldf'
4>go
1>quit

Keep in mind your files maybe named different or in a different path.

Upgrade happy!

No impact on 3.6 BES as long as you do not stop/start the BES Services, but should still be done in a maintence window if problems arise.

Trying to upgrade MSDE 7 to MSDE 2000a, completed the steps above (double-checking database names and paths), but receive event errors from BES service that cannot log in to the database. Seems to be an authentication error? I have made no other changes and I have enabled TCP/IP with the SQL tool (per KB article). Ideas? Thanks!
