Default A little BES admin fun

Please Login to Remove!

So I'm sitting at my desk this morning, and I can see into a conference room where one of our team managers is sitting in a meeting. Everyone is sitting forward at the table, participating in whatever they are talking about....except for him.

He's leaning way back in his chair - using his BlackBerry. I watched out of the corner of my eye and he's like that for several minutes. Not a quick check of the BB, like many do, but actively disregarding the meeting.

So, being the BES admin that I am, I logged into the BES and sent a PIN message to his device from the BES "Hey, stop playing with your BlackBerry and pay attention to the meeting".

It took a minute, but he was suddenly sitting forward at the table like everyone else

Sometimes I love my job.....

You're too nice. I would have opted for the 'Erase and Disable Handheld' option. ;)

Ahahaha.... I'll keep that one in mind for next time. Or even the 'Set password and lock handheld' option.

You'd be surprised how many people do that in meetings. It pisses me off...its unprofessional and they are usually the ones who ask dumb questions at the end.

I've done this many times over the years and it always gets the funniest reaction. While not specifically BB related, I'm sure you guys have all used remote control tools to remote in and fix a customers computer.

If I've been on for a while with an unsuspecting user and the dialog is going smoothly, I like to pause and say "um, can you please move to the right or left... I can't see the screen."

Man, it gets the BEST reactions. And its even funnier to me every time I think about what they must be thinking... or doing, or if they slowly turn around thinking they'll see me or a camera or whatever....

When I do workshops and seminars, I ask that the attendees turn off their cell devices, iPhones, BBs, etc and put them on the table in front of them. It is a huge distraction, to me, to them and others around them. I give breaks every so often and they can check mail then.
