Default How do I erase all data on the handheld FROM the handheld?

Please Login to Remove!

I am passing a 7100g device from one user to another, I wish to clean up all data left by 1st user before I set it up for the 2nd user.

I know I can connect it to a computer and do that from "Application Loader", however is there any way I could perform this cleanup from the handheld, without connecting it to a PC?

The SIM card has been removed so I know I can't do it from the BES server, but there got to be some way to do it from the device itself?

Go to Options/Security and select Wipe from the menu. Other option set the password and type x times a wrong password.

Looks like "wipe device" does not only delete the data. It disalbed something.. :(

After I did that, all data is cleared but I can't set up this device anymore for the next user, wireless part does not work anymore, it shows "Service Blocked" when I sent email out. Of course address LookUp failed, as well.

I need to call them today and I will post the solution later.

I know that on many models, once you have wiped a device and it reboots that the wireless is turned OFF. Also you had mentioned that the SIM had been removed from the device? Assuming that you've replaced the SIM and turned on the wireless radio, another likely cause of the problem you're describing would be the status of the wireless account itself.

If wireless isn't working, and you haven't activated the device for the new user, the other errors you mentioned make perfect sense.

BaronVonBB, Thanks for the reply, but my case isn't exactly like what you described.

Let me call the first user of this 7100g device "user A", and the second user "User B". User B already had a 8290 but theh device was dead, so we purchased a new device for user A, and pass his 7100g to user B. There is no issue in user A so we will skip that part.

The SIM card from user B that I put into this 7100g (after I wiped the device) was already enabled and working before, it has unlimited GPRS access, I can't think of any service I need to add if it was already working on his 8290 before, beside, when I turned on the device, it does show capital GPRS so I assume this is not a problem related to the SIM.

Anyway I will call and let you guys know what's going on.
