Default How to erase all my contacts in my contact list ?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Id like to erase all my contacts in my BB 8320 curve phone. But not my calender, Tasks etc.

The reason is because all the contacts are jumbled since they didnt import properly when i migrated from palm. So over the last 3 months i set my sync settings in such a way that the contacts alone dont sync. Then i manually have been typing in all my data from my palm into MS outlook. And now i have it organized in Outlook. But the fone still has the screwed up records from the bad migration import.

Id now like to erase all my contacts and replace them with the ones outlook has. I tried going into sync settings and changed the contacts sync (which i had deactivated so far) to do a export to handheld or something like that. But all the old jumble is still there. Id like to do a full OUTLOOK overwrties handheld thing. Can someone guide me how ?

Thanks

Connect the BlackBerry to a computer.
Start BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Click Backup/Restore. Click Advanced.
Highlight the Address Book/Contacts.
Click Clear. Click Yes.

Then resync with Outlook.

I've always had to just manually delete that portion from Outlook or on my device. I guess you could export all your contacts to Excel where "country" might get its own separate column. Delete it, and import it back to Excel. Never tried it that way so I'm not sure.

Excel to Outlook is a nightmare. The fields never map out correctly. Ill be damned if that should happen again. Palm to BB migration is not proper. The mapping is all haphazard. And theres no legit way to get it right. Palm to Excel to BB also never works in correct order. In fact all your records will miss out certain fields etc. Its the mapping where the core problem lies. So because of all this ive already had to spend 2 months and type in 1500 records manually into outlook to suit the BB contacts field structure. So cant go back to excel import etc. Just wont work. Ive tried.

Now what i want is just to remove this USA append to all my addresses. After that things should be smooth as long as i upgrade within BB phones i assume.

Any help form someone who knows how i can remove this USA append on all my records ?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry those were the only things I could think of.

Yes Palm -> Excel doesn't work out very well but I had no issues with Excel <-> outlook when I had to edit several hundred entries that way. But then I was only using the major fields (notes, address, etc.)

Hi,
I tried an export to excel and was lucky as i got the coutry column seperate and i just cleared USA entries and made them blank. Now ive saved that excel file on my desktop. How do i import them back ? MOST IMPORTANTLY what happens to the entries that already exist here. Will i have duplicates imported ? Or do i have to delete all outlook contacts and then import this excel file in ? In which case if im not happy with the result after the import from excel. How do i restore back the entries i had deleted in outlook before the import ?

Or shall i just experiment in outlook and if something turns out bad i can just do a handheld overwrites the desktop for contacts ?
