Hi,

I got my new Blackberry 9700 and upgraded to the latest software version.

I used to use 8310 which I can set the left or right convenience key to lock the screen. However, it seems 9700 force me to use the top-left lock button to lock the screen. There is no way to set left/right convenience key to do this any more.

I am wondering if I miss set something? Is there any trick to bypass this? I want to use the old <* + phone button> way to unlock the screen. Is there anyway to do it?

Options/keyboard. set the convenience key to lock. Scroll down you will see it.

If you have a password set you must still enter it to unlock the BB.

Lock Screen is not one of the selections from the convenience key list. I updated my software to the latest version, I think it might be removed from the latest version.

Anyone has any workaround of this issue?

I've just noticed this issue as well.

My locking issues with the 9700 just went from bad to worse. I have always absolutely hated the fact the top left key unlocks my Blackberry, but at least I could lock it with the side button, then use the old school *(phonekey). It was not perfect as the phone still always unlocked in my pocket, but it was way better than it is now since I can't use the side button for locks anymore.

I swear the the phone becomes less and less user friendly with every update.

If anyone has a suggestion/solution, aside from buying a different phone, it would be greatly appreciated.
