Recently one of my users reported that when he syncs with Exchange Public Folders, contact record's e-mail addresses show up in the Home address on his handheld. I have verified that this the case with a RIM tech on the phone during testing, and we narrowed it down to the e-mail address getting dropped into the ZIP code field. We verified that all mappings are correct, and the tech said he would get back to me. His response was that the user should have only Read and Visible permissions on Public Folders, pointing to page 24 of this doc -->
'Installation and Configuration Guide - BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange'.
The tech is indicating that, because the user has write permissions to the folder in question, indexes can be rewritten during a sync. I find this extremely hard to believe as it means that:
- I can add records to the folder and edit them, but I can't sync them, or
- I can sync records, but I can't add or edit them
If this is the way things really work, it essentially nerfs Public Folder synchronization for us. So, anyone think the tech is correct, or do I need to escalate the case? TIA for any feedback.
My environment is:
Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008
BES 5.0.1 on Windows 2003
9630 Handheld
Desktop Manager 6.0 build 42
