Current Environment:

BES v5 with High Availability Failover (both physical servers).

My question is:

Do i need to stop the services to perform this upgrade? Or can I simply failover the server to standby, process the upgrade on the primary server and then manually fail it back over? Then process upgrade on failover server?

in nutshell do following


stop services on both server
backup your database,

Did I mention backup your database? yes pls do it

install update on primary server

reboot and test the functionality,
if your update fails, Keep the services stopped and un-install the update and restore your database then restart services

if all ok then go ahead with applying update to standby server and reboot that box too

test failover and failback

And backup that database.
Oh and one more thing... backup your database.
Lastly, whenever you make ANY change to BES/BAS/BESMON, backup that database.

I take it I should do the Exchange MAPI client upgrade AFTER upgrading both BES nodes to SP2?
