I've been an iPhone user for the last few years but lost my 3GS a few months ago.

I'm now thinking about buying a used Bold 9700 on eBay for the next few months to give it a try before i decide whether to get the iPhone 5. It looks like i can get a Bold for £150-200.

I'm a bit confused about the tariffs though, i think i need a tariff with Blackberry Data plan, but I can only find this on the O2 website. Do the other UK carriers offer 30 day sim-only tariffs with blackberry web?

Don't believe so. You can get PAYG blackberry data on Orange though.

30 day SIM-only plans require an extra £5 a month for the BB service, starting at a base cost of £10 a month, depending on how many minutes/txts you want too.

Beware when buying a BB from Ebay, that you might have to get it deregistered from the carrier it may already be locked to. This is in addition to getting the phone "unlocked" so it can use the SIM of your choice. If you have the option, buy a used phone already on the carrier you plan to use, or a phone known to have come not from a carrier (like Carphone Warehouse)

And Orange and T-Mobile users can now roam on to the other's network without extra charges now (for GPRS, not 3G), by the way.

(I don't recommend T-mobile anymore because of their idiotic data plans. You are required to have the blackberry booster AND an internet booster to get full data usage, which usually ends up costing more)

As for looking on Ebay, I would give that some thought. You can get deals at some retailers and if the phone you really want is an Iphone then just get that.
A blackberry is not an Iphone and is more suited for business and security.
