Default What is that thing? (star under signal bars)

OK, I've read the manual. I've read the FAQ. I've searched the forums, but I can't figure out what the star-shaped snowflake-looking icon is just under the signal strength bars on BB 7250 home screen. Can someone clue me in?

Big brother is watching where I go, who I talk to, and what I say! Oh my!

All humor aside, anyone have a serious answer?

GPS is the serious answer. The GPS is only on when placing a 911 call unless you have turned on location services in which case it is on all the time.
