my bb is 5 days old and this morning i woke up and my phone had died so i plugged it in and it had no text messages app anymore. i cant search for it or anything because nothing comes up. the only way i know im getting texts is i go to someone in my contact list and it says there texts in recent activity! howwww do i get it back?!?!?!?!!?!?

Did you add a text App?

Open the messages folder and press the BB key to compose a new message. there you will see a selection to do SMS and MMS.

ok yeah i can make one but if they reply it wont give me the little message symbol anymore and i can only read them if i guess who texted me and go to there contact info and go to recent activity.

When you allowed the battery to completely die it may have scrambled the OS . Try doing a complete recharge and pull the battery while powered. This will reload the OS clean and hopefully reset the BB to where it was before the power issue. Also when you allow a LI battery to completely drain it may not recover and will only recharge partially. If this was the first time you may be ok but if you allow this to happen often you may need to replace the battery.

thanks! i did that it didnt get the text app back but its now sending my texts through the regular messages app now? so at least i can text for now!

and im on koodo and i even asked about letting the battery drain and he said yeah i should let it drain all the way before recharging all the time cuz i said that i heard you should never let them die..

Yes, he was wrong.
The new batteries that blackberry use prefer constant top-ups than draining and recharging.

Did you change themes? You might have your SMS Folder set to "hidden". From the home screen, hit Menu once to display all your icons, then hit Menu again and select "Show All". If it appears but is a ghost image, roll the cursor over it and use the Menu button a third time to uncheck "Hide". You can then uncheck "Show All" and have the rest of the hidden/ghost icons disappear again.

i just tried that and the app wasnt there. but when i take the battery out while its on and i boot it up i get an error message saying uncaught exceptioon: java.lang.NullPointerExcepton whats that mean?

also since im using my message app to text for now is there a way to have them make a noise when i receive them? i cant seem to find it in the sounds tab in settings or in the app?
