Default BB detach

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all

can you pls. advice me if there is any setting\option in BB Bold that can detach it from the SGSN because it remains attached all the time. I am using my BB as a usual hand set without BB services, like all other hand sets.
Other hand sets have "when needed" option but in BB i can`t find it
So a reply related this will be so helpful
thanks

Are you trying to disconnect just data from Telles without disconnecting voice/sms? I don't think BB has that option.

No it can't solve what I really need, I have tried before asking with that option data service off and it stays attached/connected with the operator GPRS element (SGSN) and at the same time I cant do GPRS traffic. As I mentioned also at Nokia e.g. can be set data connection: "when needed". Anyhow thanks a lot for your help. Any other suggestion will help me

"When needed" is the default mode of operation for BlackBerry.

I don't think so because I see always attached but if the BB has this option the "when needed" where can be found in this hand set? I mean the default as you are saying is "when needed" what about the other option of this setting "always" where is in the BB the path I mean? Thnx again

BlackBerry devices only use data when an application requests it (i.e., only when needed). There is no way to change this.

I thought the bb maintained a minimal open data connection at all times for push email (or at least a very frequent polling). I don't claim expertise, though.

No, the device doesn't poll. If data needs to be sent to the device, the BlackBerry servers poll the device's PIN to see if it is connected. If it is, the data is sent. Otherwise, no data is sent or received.
