Having serious issues. My Torch 9800 is "nuked". It froze up while checking a text about 3 days ago and did the red LED light on & off thing and is stuck in the reboot loop. I've done endless hours of research. Tried using apploader & the battery trick, won't say PIN:UNKNOWN on laptop but it does on desktop but still gets stuck at "Reconnecting to JVM" - it gets stuck there if I proceed with apploader with my pin showing.

It was recommended to me to wipe my BB using JL_cmder but I can't - won't connect. Tried using BBSAK, device not detected.

Anyone have ANY advice at ALL as to what I can do? This is SO frustrating! Everywhere I'm reading - it seems everyone gets away with the battery trick..but not me :(

Are you able to restart your device in safe mode as shown in KB17877-How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

I assume, since it's caught in a reboot cycle, when you connect to the Desktop Software it doesn't take a stable connection to reinstall your software?


If that is case, remove your battery and keep it out when you connect to the Desktop Software. You will get a pop up that the device can't connect and there should be Retry, Update and Cancel buttons. Select Update and you will then be able to reinstall the current device software version.

When the load is progressing, you will see a step that says "Wait for device initialization". At this point, insert the battery and the reload should complete.

One thing that was not mentioned by the OP. is the battery charger working?
what does it show on the battery indicator?
