Hi All, my neighbour has asked me for some assistance.
They have a Blackberry 8520 running OS 5 and have a requirement to archive their SMS to PC. My device which is connected to a BES running the same OS has an option to send as email while their device does not.

Is someone able to assist with this? Is it a case of upgrading the OS to get this option? I have read on the forum about taking a backup and downloading some software to read the .IPD file but thought getting the Send as Email option would be more convenient.

Not sure this will work for you but I have an option to "select more" and it then allows me to email the text messages. Unless i select this i dont have the ability to send a single text via email. It might have something to do with emailing a single text message vs. selecting multiples.

On a 9810, non BES i see an option to send multiples via email by touch selecting multiples. Until multiples are selected, the email icon is blank.

I will check on their device but when I had a look when looking at the text when clicking the menu button there was an option to call the sender and that was about it! The options was just for a delivery report etc.

I am wondering if a OS upgrade will help?

doing some reading I found this

You can forward SMS text messages as PIN messages or email messages. If your BlackBerry® device is connected to a CDMA network, you can
also send an SMS text message to an email address.


I tried this and simply instead of using a phone number I entered an email address.

Once you get it to Email you can do what ever you need.
