There are shortcuts built in you just have to check them out. If you what "see" instead of "are" type "AS" button then "ER" button then space and it will give you see. You can also make your own in Auto Text in Options menu. This was by far the biggest issue I had when first getting my 7100. Now I have so many shortcuts that sometimes I'm five words ahead of the thing when I'm typing and have to wait for it to catch up.

Shortcuts are definitely a key to making sure type work. However, I read somewhere that SureType will "learn" your preferences over time. I believe I have seen this in my typing. If this is true, then eventaully Brad will be used in place of bead. Another trick that you might already be aware of... you can use your contacts as "correct words" as well.

(Hijacking= changing the subject) Anyways while in a message or screen where your typing something press the click wheel and go to disable sure type...

Or press and hold the * key for a second or so to toggle between settings.

Back to the thread - the most irritating one for me is "get versus hey" and "are versus see". It always seems to pick the wrong one!!

'Hey - Get' and 'Are - See' were the most annoying I had. Funny thread to pop up as I was thinking about this today. I now use an 8700v which is superb but I'm on call this weekend, and our on call BB is a 7100 - I was quickly reminded of how annoying it all got with the 7100!!! Suretype updates are bound to be on the way though I would have thought - only in recent months has the 'custom wordlist' become available, some I'm sure it's a developing thing. They'll never iron them all out though I'm sure.

you know in all honesty though i think sure type has actually helped me improve on using proper english and word, also when it comes to driving I find being able to punch a couple keys for a word much easier than trying to type a message on my treo... did i mention bead for brad?

What about "try" vs "yet"?
"see" vs "are" is by far the most annoying. I need to use those shortcuts...

Maybe not the right spot but I have to ask this question! I know the it can drive you nuts when it automagically thinks for you and worse yet it "learns" what you use the most! Is there a way to UNDO a "learned" word. For example I used the word THUS a few time and now everytime I get THUS first and THIS as a choice! Any thought?

yes, type THIS 3 times in a row (when the suggestion comes up on the screen, scroll to select THIS). That will make it the first suggestion from now on.

You can also edit (and delete from) your Custom Wordlist under the main Options icon. I had some real doozy's in mine....somehow got YGR for THE, and YGST for THAT.

Awesome I will try that - I have a 7100g with Cingular and I didn't see the custom wordlist on mine - any thoughts on that option?

Thanks!

Hmmmm....not sure on that. I have the 7100i and it's in the list of Options as soon as I click on the Options icon. Could it be 'hidden' under Advanced Options for you?

I am shocked that no one has mentioned the 1 that drives me up a wall all the time. The big problem with this is that when you want one word it gives you the other and then when you want the other word it gives you the first word. Contantly changing. I think sometimes my BB talks to other BB while we sleep and conspire together to drive us crazy, OR my BB found out that I did a little texting on the side behind its back with a regular cell phone using T9 keypad
I want "is" I get "us", I want "us" I get "is"...the madness, the insanity....

Just had this one over the weekend. It looked like I was drunk when I typed "I'm drink"
Just thought it was a funny one.
