Hi all,

I am looking for an easier way to copy all of my phonebook entries from my falcon series (i730) Nextel to my 7520 (or for that matter, 7510).

I have copied the numbers out from the phone into an excel file using the Iden Super Agent, but can't figure out how to get it from there onto the blackberry or even into Outlook.

Anyone find a method? solution? anything?

The Excel file can be converted to a CSV file (Although what you have may already be a CSV vile).

Then the CSV file can be imported. For more information about "CSV import to Outlook", do a Google search. Some field mapping is usually required (mapping Excel columns to the proper fields in Outlook)

Problem is, the info pulled from Nextel phones is in a column with a second column that designates the type of phone, not rows, so there is no way to map the data.

The only way I've gotten CSV files to import is to export them into a CSV file, then import them into Palm Desktop 4.something. You can drag&drop the field mappings to correspond with the correct data fields. Then export the entire addy book into vcard format. Then import it into your favorite mail client that the desktop manager support, then sync it to your device with the desktop manager.

Kind of a roundabout way of doing it yes, but that's what I got to work and haven't really taken the time to see if there are any shortcuts yet.

You could also go to a local Nextel store and they have a device that pulls the phone numbers from your cell phone, then puts them on your BlackBerry. Once they are moved over (on your BB):
Click on the Address Book Icon
Go to SIM Phone Book
Click on one of the phone numbers
Select Copy All to Address Book
When you return to your Address Book they will all be there.

Of course, this will only work if you had a SIM card in your old Nextel phone.

I have taken the the Excel file as CSV file and then imported into Outlook, then made sure to map it, like said before and the sync it with your phone.

Its not as hard or round about as most people seem to be saying.

It's possible to import CSV files into Outlook.

Make sure you nave all the Outlook optional components installed when you are intsalling the Outlook CD, or you might not have the Import formats that you need for CSV.

It is possible old versions of Outlook (i.e. Outlook 2000?) may not support CSV import.

You may have to map all the phone numbers into one generic phone number field for now.

Alternatively, you can write an Excel macro that rearranges the columns depending on the match. I can write such a macro. You might want to find someone who can do a macro for you, or find some utility that can do the job for you. (If you need to hire someone for a couple hours to do this for you, I could, but this is a consulting service you'll have to contact me through www.rejtech.com email for that)

is it possible some way to take your sim card from your falcon and put it in your blackberry and copy them?

I was wondering the same thing as I'm looking at getting a BB very soon and want to take my numbers with me. I have a Motorola i90c with a SIM card now and would be getting a BB7520. Should I just be able to pop in my old SIM card and do the copy to the address book?
