Default Outlook pst configuation problems with BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all

We have just install BES ver 3.6 and have 7230 handhelds. At present we have all users located within HQ set up and working fine with an outlook ost file, but this is not possible for the depots because outlook keeps crashing. So we have return them back to a pst file configuation, now we keep getting an RIM_bca28a80-e9c0-11d1-87fe-00600811c6a2 error message when sending and receiving mail.

Does anyone know of a work around when using pst files to get blackberry working again and stop this meesage

Any advise would be fantasic

i didn't think a PST delivery method was possible with Blackberry...? i could be wrong.

why not just upgrade to Outlook 2003 w/ cached mode - the crashing should stop (assuming you are using a prior version of Outlook, which it seems).

Ok I played around with this somewhat. Basically delivery to a PST defeats the Blackberry server and causes issues everytime. The message hits the mailbox and then is moved to the PST. The BES sees this as the message is gone nothing to redirect.

I have had some success with creating two Outlook profiles. We'll call them:

Blackberry
Outlook

So you setup the Blackberry profile for the user in Outlook with all your standard settings but leave mail delivery to the mailbox.

Then setup your Outlook profile to deliver to the pst and make this the default profile the end user uses.

In Desktop Manager use the Blackberry Profile for syncrhonization and linking to the BES server.

It should allow you to sync and work normally without much issue.

We stopped using PST's a while ago so this has not been thoroughly tested. This will become a moot point for you when you upgrade to 4.0. PST's are not supported in anyway.
