Default BB Connect

Please Login to Remove!

I'm sure someone does/can do this, but I can't find it....

BlackberryConnect devices only work with MS Exchange (and others), but not with the Internet Service I currently use with my 8700.

I don't work for a company with MS Exchange, so can I somehow go through a 3rd party and set this up so I can take advantage of Connect devices, ie Treo650? (I'm in Australia).

TIA

It means you can use it on a BES or BIM (BlackBerry Internet Mail) service.

Sorry, I still don't understand that - the ads clearly state that the Blackberry Connect servioce will not work with the Blackberry Internet Mail service and only with Enterprise. Why are you saying that's not corrrect? Plus, that also doesn't answer the question - I don't work for a company with MS Exchange, so can I somehow go through a 3rd party and set this up so I can take advantage of Connect devices, ie Treo650? (I'm in Australia).

BBC requires BES.

The BlackBerry Connect that T-Mobile Europe distributes can do either BES or BIS.

If your ad states something specific, then I guess you should just go with that. Perhaps your carrier crippled it to be that way.

Regarding your other question, this may help:

The Treo 650 is the only BlackBerry Connect device that can only work with BES. All other BB Connnect devices can work with either BES or BIS.

BBC integrates itself with the mail application on the Treo - Versamail. Versamail can also be used for POP email, so the objective of BIS can be achieved through Versamail. It is actually better than BIS if you are running both BIS and BES because the pop emails are isolated in its own account / inbox.

Mark Reyhon (sp?) has created a few excellent threads like that one. He's been a huge help to the BlackBerry community. Glad you found his guide useful!
