Hear hear. Literally. I want to know as well.

This is the most phone-like RIM BB in a while (other than the original 7100). The last 7290 I had sounded less than inspirational in the earpiece when it came to incoming calls. I kept hearing random garble. No problem with a bluetooth headset, though.

If the random garble or other noises are still present, I'll pass on this 'Berry, too. It's gotta work solid as a phone for me.

Mine has been every bit as good as my 8700c. In fact, I believe the earpiece is louder and clearer.

Of course, this is with only a few calls.

I don't see any differences between it and the 8700c.

I have one, and I have used it in a couple bars and I can hear just fine, the speaker can get really loud.

Since I have never done extensive listening on an 8700c (except while chained to the display at a noisy store), I am assuming no real complaints about the 8700c, since we're using it as the baseline against the 7130?

My 7130 is as good as the 8700 and even better with my Bluetooth earpieces. I tried the motorolla HS 810, HS 820, and HS 850 and my favorite the jabra BT250v.

Default Very good voice quality

My experience so far, 4 days, is the quality is much much better than my Treo 650 and almost as good as my favorite cell phone, Sony Ericsson Z520a.

I have lots of bars everywhere and google talk will stay connected all day without a problem.

Well, Saturday I was on the back of a jet-dryer when my phone rang, I lifted my racing headset off my ear - put the phone in its place and let the headset smush the phone the phone to my ear. I had some problems hearing (I was on the back of a helicopter engine powering jet dryers) but the person I was talking to on the other end could hear me, granted the background they said was loud but they could still hear me/understand me. On the 8700c I had occasional problems being heard when I was in race control, and a full field of cars on the track.

Wow. That's noisy! But in a good way.

Now, on a complete opposite: What about when you're in a totally silent environment? Can you hear excessive hissing? Electronic "noise" (crackles, whooshing, etc)?

I've had my 7130c for about a week and a half, and have gotten a lot of comments from people about the better sound on their end than my 7290. The sound on my end is first rate, both stand-alone and with a bluetooth headset.

by far superior to my treo 650...

even tonight i was walking on a noisy street and could make out the caller and vice versa just fine

in a quiet room, i can have the volume to medium and hear them perfectly

speakerphone is awesome and loud

zero complaints here

Its warmth and depth of perception cannot match the Motorola i530, but it is otherwise a solid sounding phone. Loud (I often have to thumb the volume lower) and relatively full (not as tinny and as distant as the Motorola i605) is how I would describe the audio. Speakerphone is not as loud nor as clear as some of the NEXTEL offerings, but I was pleasently surprised when I first used it. Unfortunately, the speaker is mounted in such a way that placing the phone face up on a table renders the speakerphone near useless, even at maximum volume levels.

Sooo...I'm starting to wonder if I have a bum unit. It seems that everyone is pleased with the voice quality, but I definately am not. Even outside on the top deck of my house, where I get either 4 or, most often, 5 bars, I get a lot of breakup in my calls. Oddly, people seem to be hearing me ok, though. It appears to only be a reception issue on my end.

Could my unit be bad? Or could it be solved with one of those "resync with the tower" type deals?

Voice quality on mine SUCKS. Maybe this is considered good for a Blackberry but it's the worst quality of any phone that I have ever had.. I LOVE the 7130c for everything EXCEPT voice quality. And yes I have been to a Cingular store and tested other models. Very disappointing.

I have been using my new 7130c for a week. I've made about 80 calls, some of which, while traveling some distance, and the voice quality is very good. I am very pleased as that was a concern before I purchased it.

Prior to my BB I was using a RAZR which delivered the best voice quality of any phone prior. Usually I get a new phone once or twice a year so that is a lot of phones to compare to.

In my experience so far the 7130c is just as good, and even superior as I have more range of adjustment for volume and it's louder than the RAZR. In noisey environments I can hear well which was not the case with the Moto.

I am very happy with my 7130c and quite impressed as I have not had a single problem. Easy to setup, and I like the SureType it's really fast.

Cheers....
