Default Blackberry 7130e

Please Login to Remove!

Hello i am very interested in upgrading my old sanyo to a sprint 7130e. How is this phone? Is there anyway to use the internet and email without the BB data pack for 40 bucks a month. Do you think retentions on sprint would give me a good deal because i am out of contract and have been a loyal customer for 7 years. Thanks alot

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

You have to have a days plan to use email and internet. No way around it.

You definitely need the BB plan. I was offered 20% off my monthly bill when I added it, so that turns out to about $20 off each month. In effect it made the switch to the BB plan only an extra $5/mo for me.

Being a cannuck, I can't comment on the US plans, but as a 7130e owner for the past month, I can tell you it's an excellent all-round product. The phone is good, but not as good as a dedicated mobile phone like Nokia, Morotolla or Samsung. The unit is solid, and I really like the SureType keypad for text entry. The BB has saved my behind a couple of times when a timely response while out of the office was necessary.

IMO, they should give you a good deal since it's so easy to make the switch to another provider and port your number over and also since your out of contract, they'd want to get you for another 2 years at least, but that is the only way you'll get a good deal, by signing up for 2 years. BTW, i've been w/Sprint for at least 5 years and a loyal Samsung user but made the switch and like it because of all of it's capabilities and useful for my job. If your looking for a phone and wanting to have assigned screens/images for your contacts then your not going to get it. This is geared more towards business but still has downloadable ringers/mp3's and wallpapers.

I want a blackberry for a phone, planner, text messanging, and browsing the internet. I don't really need it for email and i am starting to think the blackberries are only for people who need to be in constant reach of the office. Is this too much phone for me?

maybe, maybe not, only you can say. I know it is more "phone" than I need, I don't use it for business at all. but I really like my 7100t. the calender and contacts work great and I love the email (yahoo pushed) and internet (okay, kinda slow with GPRS, but reasonable) I've done some IM and texting but not much 'cause they aren't included in my plan. this is my first BB and I am sold. I've been waiting patiently for tmobile to come out with the 7130 but rumour here seems to be they aren't I say jump in, the waters great! and you'll find uses for it you didn't know you couldn't live without!
