I have just upgraded my 7290 to OS 4.1.039 and it is missing some shortcuts to some very important functions like compose. I have looked hi and low and even checked for hidden icons. I cannot find them. Please help.

The icon for compose no longer exists with v4.1. You can try the shortcut of 'C' (when you're in the Messages app), or do a search on this site for 'quick compose'.

RIM removed the Compose icon in 4.1; please search for "Quick Compose", a utility which you can load to replace the Compose functionality.

Or better yet, give PocketDay a trial run. I purchased PocketDay Professional within five minutes of running the trial and have been quite satisfied since. You can map a total of eighteen keys as shortcuts. Sweet indeed...
