Default RIM MAPS app for 8700

Please Login to Remove!

So with the release of the 8100 around the corner one of the most interesting new applications is RIM's new maps /GPS app. Does anyone know if the maps application is available for the 8700 series? If so where can I get it from? Would be neat to hook the 8700 up to my bluetooth GPS puck..........anyone got any bright ideas?

Why have it? Use Google maps. They have a version for the Blackberry than you can download to it.

To get GPS not just static maps using a bluetooth GPS module.

There is Spot

And it seems like it can use just about any map server you would care to, including Google.

I used a friends Plam with Tom Tom gps. If the software people would develop the application for the 8700, life would be complete

Another large benefit of the BB maps is that it is integrated into email and the address book - something sorely missing from Google Maps.

Hopefully it will be included in the 4.2 handheld OS when it is released for the 8700.

I think BB Maps is a RIM enhanced version of Google Maps. Anyone who can confirm?

This wouldn't be out of character, since there's an agreement between RIM and Google, and there's been third party Google Maps clones (BBLocal, HelloWorld) before Google came out with their official software.
