Default 8100 Ringtones

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure if this has been covered yet here, however searching this forum for "ringtone" produced very few results.
I discovered this webiste in another post on here, tuneusin.com and it has *tons* of ringtones as well as wallpapers and they all seem to work very well on the Pearl. The ringtones that I have used successfully for the 8100 are under the section "Blackberry 8700-7130/Pocket PC Smartphone/Treo Ringtones" and are all im MP3 and sound great on my phone. Warning, highly addictive, and the EDGE connection downloads them extremely fast (compared to my old 7105t). Hope this helps distract many of you from work tomorrow.

When you go to the website i mentioned above, select an actual tone, and click on it, it opens media player to preview the tone. Then click the menu button, and save it (defaults to Ringtone directory) and there is an option to set as default ringtone. Hope this helps.

Do they ring pretty loud, because the ones that come with the 8100 are very low

I think if you put them in the right folder and encoded correctly, yes.

I cant even transfer them via bluetooth, its always a file error message. My phone says i have 8 mb of free space left. Could that be why? I know my mp3 is only about 5 of 6 mb. the bis server doesn't handle files over 500 kb right, so i couldn't send them to myself.

host em up on a webpage, and download them from the webpage

I thought you were putting them on a media card though.

Yeah, I don't have a media card, I didn't think I would need one. I just wanted to see if it would work via bluetooth, guess not. I thought I had 64 mb on the phone, where am I using all this space. I just transfered from my 7100t and backed up my messages which was about 13,000, everything else was the same. How much do the 7100's hold. I had about as much space left on that one too? I know the 7100 didn't have 64 mb of internal memory.

I currently use the 8700. When I get the Pearl I plan on backing up my 8700 then transferring all the info on it to the Pearl. Besides my contacts, appointments, & memos will the mp3 ringtones I have saved on the 8700 transfer to the Pearl also or no?

It seems like they will as long as they are under 2 mb.

That's good to know. All the mp3 ringtones I made for my 8700 are all between 300-500KB in size. Now I can just transfer then over with the other contents of my BlackBerry and I am set.

It probably depends on how it was encoded. I've got my "Normal" profile set to play a mp3 ringtone I downloaded from this site. I had it set to "loud" and it was too loud. Medium is plenty loud.

Thanks for the site....

Is the Ringtone Tutorial in the Ringtone forum standard for the 8100 as well?? To make my own ringtone & install it i'd need to have my own webspace?

medium is pretty damn loud... i was playing with it last night in bed and i have a bagpipes MP3 i use because it pierces right thru any background noise.. set that puppy to medium and it played it by default, set my wife up straight immediately! hahaha... she wasn't too happy, but maybe if you're running the lawnmower or something going past medium would be necessary..
