recap of issues with latest Rogers and O2 updates
Please Login to Remove!
Hey ladies, gents,
Forgive me for being lazy on this Sunday but I did do my searching, the problem became having to read through 100's of posts about issues that turned out to be user issue, settings, hardware or whatever...
So anyway, I was wondering if those with sound experience could give me/us a recap of issues with the latest updates from Rogers n O2. This weekend I experience the ringer issues in the worst situation possible. Thing was I was at an outdoor event walking up a storm and generally more active than norm and I ended up missing calls from someone trying to reach me for a long period of time. Where as before I would've atleast heard/felt 1 ring/vibrate I thought I could live with it until TMO's fix but after this weekends incident...
All that said, I wanna upgrade but I don't wanna trade 1 bad issue for several.

I have had no issues with the Roger's update. The 2GB micro card support is what pushed me over the edge to go that way as well as the ringer. I haven't experienced any of the other issues some have written about with this update.
Before the update with the TMO software I had a Java 102 error which forced a reload of the entire software after wiping the Pearl. It would not go away and each time it rebooted I was in an endless loop until I wiped the Pearl. It was at this time I loaded the Roger's and so far the 102 error hasn't returned. I did get one Java 200 error which was cleared when I rebooted.

I ahve not found to many major issues with this OS upgrade to O2.. For me it has fixed all the bugs that the OEM T-mobile OS had and I wouldnt dare look back. I have no Javanullpoint errors, the trackball dos not stop the phone from ringing/vibrating, I can SMS from the home screen with no problem, My MMS are faster and do not cause a spinning hour glass, Pictures on my media card cycle faster as well on the device memory, My trackball lights up different colors without causing the green LED light to stay on. So all in all this is by far the best OS released to date.

Cool, I went for it, so far so good, I ran through some emails, sms, mms, pin, and phone calls annoying people. Things don't seem much faster to be honest but we'll see what happens. I'll test the battery the next few days and see :(

Agree. Having used all three of the major 8100 OS releases to date and being a poweruser of sorts, I can say that the latest O2 OS is by far the best OS for the 8100 to date. In fact it is the first pearl OS that does not feel like a beta OS. Granted it is not perfect, but it is pretty darn good. Skip the Rogers update and go directly to the O2 update, it is much better.

I was going to wait for Tmo's release, but I also encountered a couple missed calls. Anyone know when the 02 update is supposed to be back up?

That sucks, I had download and installed it a few days ago but got cold feet and cancelled the upgrade prompt when I started Desktop Manager. I never really use DM so I just left it installed, then when I decided to go for it I ran DM, the upgrade prompt came up and I went for it.

I set it up on there, but it says:
"Each file can be downloaded by anyone a maximum of 5 times during a 24 hour period. After the fifth download, recipients will need to setup their own Free Xdrive account to view the file. If you delete the file or upload a new copy of the file, it will no longer be accessible to those you have shared with."
I'm thinking this is not the best place to post it since I'm sure more than 5 people a day will want the file. Any other ideas?

Battery life seems the same to me. I haven't seen a difference or heard of any complaints. I am curious if others have noticed anything at all.
