Cool windows me

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

My laptop is getting repaired and will be out of commision for about 4 weeks. I have an older desk top that has windows me installed. Is there anyway to install the desktop manager to this computer to get me by until mine is fixed.
I have tried but it won't allow me. I know it states in the pearl book that it won't but maybe somebody has figured out a way.

Thanks,
Kelly

DM for 8100 on ME?... I don't think you can.... ME is old, old..... As I am sure you are aware..... You can *try* an older version of DM that is compat with ME but I have NO clue if it will work with the 8100....

ME is the same as Windows 2000, right? If so, I have DM installed on a Windows 2000 machine at work and it seems to run fine. Although I haven't attempted to do any backups, install apps, etc.

If i am not mistaken i think that ME came out after 2000. So if it works on 2000 it should waork on ME.

ME was built on the '98 core, and 2000 was built on the NT core....(the predecessor to XP), so ME acts more like windows 98 than anything else.....Id say give DM a try, but Im willing to bet before the installation begins you will get a "this OS is not compatible with this application message" and it will not install...

Good God people, Windows ME is NOT the same or similar to Windows 2000.

Even MS has gone on record [in interviews] saying ME was the worst OS they ever produced. They explained [or excused] by saying that Win ME was never supposed to be a true OS from MS, it was an interim OS between 98 and XP.

It was not on the market that long.

It's a dog with a zillion fleas and I would not try to get anything to work on it.

NO--no--NO...Me is Bill Gate's 9-11...... it's the worst excuse for an application ever........it is a 16bit/32bit system Window 200 XP et al have a NT kernel. If you can access someone's W2K, or XP your better off.

C-man.....

PS Me only offers you opportunities for random crashes and heart aches plus it is no longer supported by M$.
DANG should've kept reading ,you guys got it covered...lol...

ME is not even close to 2000, it was the worst OS possible there. Why do you think it's called ME? Not Millenium Edition... Mistaken Edition. =P There are lots of "Worst software ever made" list and ME is on a great majority of them =)

Please don't ever equate a disaster like 9-11 with something so trivial as an operating system.

Maybe you don't realize that 2000+ real people died that day. Show some f**king respect.

You gonna tip your tractor and say.. ohh that was my 9-11?

If the Pearl works on 98, it will work on ME. ME is garbage, but if that's all he has for now, then don't flame him. ME came out after 98SE....it was pre-Windows 2000.

I don't think you will be able to install it on ME but give it a try and let us know how it goes...
