midi....midi.....midi......7100i is a midi ringtone device. at least according to rim. no mp3s.

I believe the new OS will let you at least do wav ring tones. The trick is getting them in there. From what I have read, the easiest way is to email the ringtone to yourself and the open it up that way.

It will play .wav files but you can not email them.

You need to host them on a site and download onto the bb through the internet browser...

MIDI works best for me. Tried a 1.2MB WAV file.. could listen to it after download, but saving as ring tone didn't work. File failed to play and failed to play just for listening.

The WAV file must be PCM 11kHz, 8 Bit, Mono and the total file size cannot be larger than 450kb.

Made mine with the windows sound recorder and I uploaded mine with the wallpaper uploader from blackberry cool.

upgrade to the new software then go to mobile41.com on your bb.. its free.. but make a donation please. there are quite a few to choose from. I upgraded mine and my wav files work just fine as ringtones.. i got 3 from this site.
