Default Cingular / ATT Blackberry 8300 Update

Please Login to Remove!

Just got off phone with Cingular Rep and she was unaware when they would have the consumer (pro-sumer) model (8830?) available.

She brought up a good point though that is consistent with another post I saw on the forum. If Versizon is releasing 8830 in Mid May, they obviously have the exclusive rights contract. Why isn't Cingular releasing it first? iPhone exclusivity. Rep said that Verizon will position new Blackberry as the competing phone as Cingular begins selling iPhone.

Cingular Rep put me on hold and called Blackberry. The BB rep said she did nt have any information as to when Cingular would carry the 8830.

Bad news for me really... I need a new Blackberry as mine has broken. I went into Cingular store and grabbed a Treo 750 and I HATE this garbage. Looks like I'm going back for the Biz class 8800.

Hope this helps.

Cingular will never have a 8830 as far as I know. Are you thinking about the 8300?

I very well may be incorrect in the model number. I was mainly referring to the pro-sumer model with camera and wifi.

Yup that's the 8300. May or June release on AT&T/Cingular.

No problemo. Also changed the title to more correctly reflect the subject matter (from 8830 to 8300).

The 8300 has a camera. No WiFi. No GPS.
The 8830 is dual mode GSM/CDMA. I think it will have GPS (but one can not tell with Verizon).

Went to a AT&T owned store today, when asked on the availability of the Curve, the rep said, "probably not for a couple of months, as we get trained well in advance before a release...we just got trained on the iPhone, which will be out June 12th".
I know both Tmobile and AT&T reps are known for not knowing much...can anyone confirm or deny a release date of the Curve through AT&T or even confirm it AT&T will carry it soon?
I want a 8300 soon....!!!!!Got a 8800 through AT&T a few weeks ago, and I am really disappointed on the build quality and keyboard layout of this blackberry.

att store reps are least in the know ... the curve should be available through corporate account phone orders before the end of the month. att is the premier sponsor of computerworld wireless week, and they are giving out free blackberry's to all end user attendees. i'm praying its going to be the curve!

Proves again how little or stupid these people know. I have watched release after release and the sales people are lucky to get an hour or so spiel on a new phone the day before it is released. The are not trained "well in advance" before the release!

You will be able to buy your new 8300 before the end of this month, likely the 24th!

Is that a good thing or a bad thing los318? "in the know" in most instances is a good thing.....and to be frank, seems as though most here "know" much more than associates that are employed at local cellular dealers, for whatever reason that may be.

I wanna drive to the cingular store right now and see what they have to say right down the block.

Hey all, was just wondering, something sort of confused me over at crackberry.

Is the cingular store the same as att? I know they are the same (as far as I know, I'm still sorta new at this) but I wantd to see if there was a certain place I should really be going to buy this phone once it's out. Thanks....sorry for the random stupidity of mine!

Ya got to understand that the employees at the Cingular/AT&T stores are not craZy like us and they are trying to make a living. They make money by selling new accounts.

I agree wholeheartedly. I just always find it amusing, as I'm a global moderator on an online site as well, that we are so well seasoned and more in tune when it comes to other that actually work in the stores with products we speak of so much! I know exactly what you're saying.....

SO....the cingular store I'm talking about down the block from me, is the same as an ATT store? I need not look around more?
