Default Is there a way to have a SMS folder icon on my main screen?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

As a former Treo user, one of the things I miss is the threaded text messaging app that would keep all of my SMS messages categorized by person - so I could see what they sent me and what I sent them.

As you all know, the BBOS aggregates all of the info into one messaging list. I know that I can sort some of it, but I always have to go into a menu. Is there an app I can download that can do what I want, or is there a way to create a shortcut to the info I need somehow?

Thanks in advance.

if you have one of the 4.2.1.xx OS's on your BB you can tell it to separate the SMS from email

Thanks. But don't I always to tell it to show me that folder? Like I can separate my email. But I can't separate my SMS messages. The BBOS seems to create a folder for each email account, but not one for SMS's ... or am I missing something.

It depends on your theme and/or your OS load. IIRC Zen will separate SMS for you on 4.1 devices. The 8800 allows you to choose whether SMS is separate or not (I'm not sure if this option is on the 8100).

exilio,
Your profile says you are using an 8100 with AT&T. With the OS (4.2.0.71 or 4.2.0.73) that came with your BB you can't separate SMS from email. Right now you have a "Messages" folder that is basically a dumping place for ALL messages. Then if you've setup your email, you've received a folder that is labeled with your email address. Only your email goes in this folder. Your email will also go to the "Messages" folder too along with your SMS's. What the other poster was trying to tell you is that if you upgrade your Pearl to the newer 4.2.1.94 OS you have the added capability of being able to separate out SMS from the "Messages" folder into it's own folder.

This thread has all the info you need for upgrading your OS for this capability. The thread is titled Rogers OS but the OS can be used on any Pearl. Just follow the instructions:

Thanks to everyone that responded. And especially to John Clark, that sounds like a great solution! One thing though - I am waiting to swap out my 8100 for an 8300, so I suppose I should wait. Thanks for the tip!
