Default Apple Macbook won't let Pearl mount as Mass Storage

Please Login to Remove!

I have a new Apple Mac Book 2.16Ghz and when I try and mount my pearl as a mass storage device it won't see it.

It DOES see it in Windows and on my PPC G5.. Just not this new intel based macbook..

If I go to to system profiler

and look under USB Device tree it DO see
RIM Composite Device:
Version: 1.06
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Research In Motion
Product ID: 0x0004
Serial Number: 83877F3FF1962AB61DE7C81435F0A687A847EEE9
Vendor ID: 0x0fca

any ideas of what I need to do?? Does anyone have a new macbook w/ the pearl mounting correctly??

I have a Macbook with no problems... when was the last time you rebooted? Try that and see what happens (leave it connected while it reboots)

this may sound like a stupid question, but i don't mean to offend ...

do you have a micro-sd card installed on the pearl?

I had the same problems when i would try plugging my pear into my macbook. then i put in an memory card and now my macbook sees it w/out any problems.

Do you see any errors in log files ? Also, for some strange reason, I have most of luck connecting BlackBerry to left back USB port, not saying that you should also use that one, but try all 3 and see if you would get same messages in logs.

This might be a "out there" suggestion, but try getting a hold of a USB 2.0 hub; plug the hub into the MBP, then the BB into the hub. Personally I use a random "Dynex" hub I think I got from Best Buy (I use it with linux on a thinkpad with my BB).

The idea here is that maybe something....interesting... is going on with the USB ports of your laptop, maybe it's a hardware/firmware thing that doesn't like the BB. Using a hub registers a new USB controller with your OS X kernel, which will most likely respond more-standardly (hey, new word!) with the generic kernel drivers.

It's a simple enough test to try, and if it works - hey, problem solved.

Hmmm. Have you tried plugging it into any other computer - a WindowsXP machine would be best - just to verify that the device works? Can you use one at school/work/home for a simple test?

I'm afraid I have no further suggestions. I just pulled a 15in 2GHz MacBook Pro out of a box (I was doing this anyway, new workstation setup for engineer) and it's a Core 2 Duo model. Plugged in my Pearl and it popped right up as a mounted disk -- I haven't touched a thing on this Mac, completely out of the box and turn it on experience. Haven't even given it a name yet...

I'm trying to get it to work on my iBook. No such luck.

EDIT: Oh wait, never mind. It works. Can't explain why...

Strange. It should recognize it immediately. I have a 20" iMac C2D and I've had no problems. Perhaps try hard resetting the Pearl? Also, just to be sure, what setting do you have on your Pearl?

And I wonder if it has something to do with the Cingular Pearl? I noticed that everyone that replied has a T-Mobile Pearl.

Mass Storage is enabled on my Pearl, and I have done a battery pull several times.

Does anyone on Blackberry Forums have a 2.16Ghz Macbook?? If so can you get the Pearl mounted on that machine.

Thanks.
