Default Tmobile BB Unlimited Intl email question

Please Login to Remove!

I'm heading to the UK for a week this Friday and setup the International email service with Tmo today for $20/month. I guess I get unlimited emails. From what I've read, folks have said they get free data too...like web-browsing. Can anyone give me some feedback on this if you have the Tmo service and have experience with the Int'l email?

Thanks,
Tom

They say this, however there have been reports of people getting free data as well. I'm one of them. I always activate this plan whenever I go over (this is in Manchester - don't know if it'd be the same down South) and I seem to get free data.

Your mileage may vary though.

I've read where a lot of people use the data services and come home finding no added charges. I haven't heard of anyone that signed up for the plan, coming back being billed extra. I think this might be an "unstated" benefit of the email program, but I'll be cautious unless I hear otherwise.

I have used the International feature many times and asked about web browsing and other data usage and have been told I would be charged. But to be honest I have never been charged for any data roaming when the International Email is on my account. I may just be lucky.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I've always been charged data when travelling to the UK (London, Scotland) and yes I do have the 19.99 add on from TM. Your mileage may vary but the data charges have always shown up on the next bill.

I think it depends how your application uses the data (which APN, if you're on a BES, ...). For example, if you're on a BES your email and BB browser traffic goes the same way and is encypted. I don't think the operator can figure how the encypted link is being used. If you're using an app that actually uses the general GPRS APN (in TCP settings) then it's easy for the operator to spot this traffic...
