If you've used both, which do you prefer: Curve or 8800?
Please Login to Remove!
I've used 'em both. After using both the Pearl and 7105t I had to get a QWERTY keyboard and the Curve was the answer to my prayers. It even had a camera, not a killer feature, but a nice extra. I couldn't leave well enough alone, however. I wondered it the slightly larger form factor of the 8800 would be better. Different style keyboard but still QWERTY. And I love the black look better than the silver. The 8800 is just gorgeous IMHO. So when Navilyn posted that he was selling his I jumped on it. After using both and jumping back and forth every couple of days I think I actually prefer the 8800. Any other users of both models care to chime in?

I also had both... I started out with the 8300 for about a month and then bought an 8800 to see witch one i preferred and the 8800 won. I personally like the form of the 8800 better. I really liked the camera in the 8300 but i don't use it that much and with the 8800 having built in GPS, i just sold my 8300. It really is all preference though, depends on what you like and will be doing with the device.

Ahhhh you guys are killin me, I've been trying to decide for about 2 weeks if my first BB should be a Curve or an 88xx (an 8830 in particular) and finally decided I think I like the curve better, no you guys tell me the 88xx is better. I'm so confused! ![Crying or Very sad](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

That's exactly how its gone for me. The Curve really wowed me initially, but I find I don't use the camera and I actually have used the built-in GPS on the 8800. Plus the 8800 feels better in my hands. Different feel to the keyboards as well. I really thought the individual keys on the Curve with their spacing would be easier to use, but I found the keys of the 8800 to be just as easy, despite stories from users to the contrary. I'm lovin' me some 8800!

FWIW, I settled on the Curve. I tested both, and decided that for me:
My primary purpose for the device is corporate email and as my mobile phone. As I felt the keyboard on the Curve was better than the 8800, and the Curve is also smaller, the choice was simple. The 8800 has GPS, yes -- and I wish I had it, but would I use that feature on a daily basis? No. I use the keyboard constantly every day. And I carry the thing around constantly everyday. So the better keyboard and smaller form factor wins out for me.
The other advantage of the Curve, the camera -- honestly I haven't used it since the first time I got the device and was playing around with the new toy. Nice to know I have a camera though in case I ever need it. But frankly I'd probably use GPS more often...
Anyway, vote for the Curve here for one with email/phone as primary purpose.

I ended up with the Curve. Mainly the QWERTY keyboard layout and the form factor won me over. GPS? I hardly would use if even if I did have it. And if ever I did need it, I'd just get a puck and have BT GPS thru the Curve.
I do find myself using the camera far more than what I actually estimated.
So yeah, another vote for the Curve.

If the curve had GPS instead of the camera then the Curve would be the better device. If the 8800 had the newer OS from the Curve, with the spell checking and all, it would be the better device.
I would still be trying to choose which was my favorite if I hadn't found a trade for an E61i. I preferred typing on the Curve but I really wanted the GPS from the 8800. I preferred the size of the Curve but the look of the 8800. I preferred the battery life of the 8800. I liked having the Curve's camera.
In the end I probably would have chosen the Curve and just purchased a handheld GPS device like a TomTom. The Curve was more reliable with the bluetooth in my BMW, whereas the 8800 would sometimes freeze, requiring reboot. Probably an OS issue which is partly why I brought up the OS a little earlier...

If both devices had the camera and GPS then it would be awesome. I seldom use them but they do come in handy from time to time. I went with the 8800 just because it was slightly thinner than the 8300 plus I like the larger battery.

As TMO users we're restricted to the O2 OS 4.2.2.67 if we want our browsers. I brought my Curve to work today and I must say I'm loving the small size. As for the keyboard, the Curve's is maybe slightly easier to use than the 8800's, but the keys make the clickety-click sound when typing. Not so on the 8800.
I see the Nokia E61i in your profile. I have one of those. Super device! Best keyboard of all these QWERTY devices I've used, Blackberrys included. I just love the Blackberry OS too much, however. ![Smiley](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I had an 8830 with Verizon, same thing as the 8800, and I returned it. I didn't like the feel of the keys and they seemed smaller than the keys on the Curve, which I have now and really like. I vote for the Curve.

100% know what your saying... Despite what everyone says about the curves keys being easier to use i think one would just have to get use to them. At first i thought the same thing but after a couple of days of using the 8800, its keys are just as easy... For the camera; yes it would be nice to have one in the 8800 but i use the GPS more. Its nice to have one device with the GPS that i can go from vehicle to vehicle without all the moving and hassle of a conventional Garmin or Tom Tom. But like i said in the second post, its all about preference and what you need in the device.

Yeah, I traded my Curve to a forum member here for this E61i and I am thoroughly impressed. I had not even considered a Nokia in years but I am thrilled at having given this one a try. One major flaw: It does not work with BMW's bluetooth in my car. However, it balaces that out by having VOIP that really works well and a browser with which I am easily and comfortably typing this message. The E61i is the best "BlackBerry" I have owned!

the curve is a better user-friendly device with its superior keyboard and form factor, but the 2.5G Edge connection that ATT provided me was lousy.
i switched back to Sprint and got an 8830, which has a tighter-fitting keyboard, but loads faster 3G EVDO data connection.
i'll take the faster data network anyday, as well as built-in GPS.

I have both the Curve(personal) and the 8830(Work). I definitely prefer the Curve form factor and keyboard. The 8830 is a huge improvement over the 8703e I had but I think the Curve is just the best overall BB made. I really don't care about the GPS though.

I have a Nokia E61i myself. It's my backup in case Blackberry service craps out for an extended period of time. Feels odd saying that, and a year ago I never would have even given it a thought, but with the outages of late it's best to have a backup plan. Love the E61i, but I just think the BB handles my needs better.
I'm keeping my BB 7105t, Curve, 8800, Nokia E61i and E90. My Nokia N73 and N95 are going, however. So is my SonyEricsson K790i. Yeah, I have issues. ![Embarassed](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
