You need to have certain udp ports open. This is how the wifi connects, it is trying to create a uma and data connection. Even if you do not want to use the hotspot at home service you will have to open the ports for the h@h. If the curve sees ANY resistance to either the uma or data half of the wifi connection it will not properly connect. Call tmo cust care and transfer to the h@h department to get the port #s since I don't remember them. Hope this helps.

PORTS are not required to initially associate/connect to the router.
Once the Wi-Fi connection is established.. THEN you may need to worry about ports.
PS: I noticed a problem when going from my 8800 to Curve and using the Desktop Manager to backup from the 8800 and restore to the Curve... It prevented my making a UMA connection, BUT I could still associate/connect to my Wi-Fi Router.
