Default 8800 Totally Nuked?

Please Login to Remove!

I've got my friend's 8800 who had told me that it had the led flashing red and no screen activity. I had read about this before and in some circumstances read it to be fixable with a wipe and reinstall.
When I got the BB yesterday it was flashing a 3-2 error code. I tried to connect with JL_Cmdr to no avail; the device was not even registering on USB. The same occured with desktop manager. On the Loader screen when you select what usually is "USB-PIN:XXXXXXXX" it was totally blank. Not even COM1, COM2 etc showed.
I had a search on a few forums and came to the conclusion that basically 3-2 led means RIP for BlackBerries.
I've weighed up my options for him: Use the Envirofone recycling service and get £30 for it or spend £30 on eBay and buy one with a Broken screen or other fault and use the mainboard out of it.

I'd just like you guys to share any last ideas you have to possibly get this device working again.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (My Bold)

Remove the battery for a few minutes. Then plug it into the usb DRIECTLY to the comp. Do not allow it to pass thru a hub.

While plugged in, put the battery in after a few mins of it being out. Try to connect again using jl-cmdr. See what u get

Hasn't worked; starting to think this is properly nuked. Is there any way to force it into like "flash mode" to force the OS onto it?

I am in the same boat. Was doing an update and knocked the USB cable out of my BB. I am pretty sure it is bricked...

take the battery out, connect it with a USB cable to the computer, launch loader.exe without going thru desktop manager, it should detect USB:00000000 or something like that, then press next, it will go thru some steps then it will be waiting for initialization there you unplug it, plug it back and put the battery, sometimes that work fine. other times at that point you can at least use JL_Cmdr to wipe it and then it loads fine

Regards
