Why would you get a cellular anywhere else, unless your corp. paid for it?

tmobile has better customer service than verizon by lightyears, and i dont know, but when i talk to my buddys who have verizon, their voice seems 'old fashioned'
like it sounds 'airy'

Again, good for you. All I know is the GPS on my Sprint 8830 works and it doesn't on Verizon. Verizon may activate it at some time, but expect to pay for it. If that's ok with you then you have found your dream carrier.

He is not the only one drinking the "Carrier of Choice" Kool-Aid.
The fervor with which people defend their carriers on this forums astounds me.
Of course I have been on the other side -- fervently trashing a carrier.

i dont mean to trash...but ATT is having immense EDGE issues today, and for the past day or two. Boston is having major problems and the Philadelphia area, the EDGE data is sporadic.

Only reason I defend Verizon is because I have been with a bad carrier (Nextel/Sprint) and I had the worst experience after sprint bought them. I just got off the phone with Verizon CS and once again they went above and beyond to help me resolve an issue, as they have every single time I have called.
When I used to call sprint they blamed the problems on everything but themselves. And it was a weekly call to them about service and data issues.
So I decided if I had a good experience with Verizon I would tell the world. Everyone complains about bad service but no one ever praises great service. So I decided to be that person. In eight months I have been with Verizon I havent had one issue with them at all that couldnt be resolved by very friendly and courteous CSRs or Tech support.
So now you know why I am the way I am about verizon.

At least they give you what you paid for. The 8800 series has GPS, so you should get GPS. Verizon limits that and says "no you can't have that, or at least you can't have that until we figure how much more to charge you for it". So is Sprint my dream carrier, no, but they are a hell of lot less greedy then Verizon is.

LOL .. I didn't mention any names.
I am glad VZW was able to address your problems so well. I have no idea how good AT&T support is... So far, I haven't had to call
I did see the link about the issue in MA.. My service so far has been good.
I have been at my desk all day, so I might not have notice a slow network, but right now, my e-mail is up to date.

I will agree that Sprint's CS is their weak point, but since I have very infrequent dealings with them, its not an issue. Other then that there is very little else wrong with Sprint. Their network is modern and fast and they have been cutting edge when it comes to 3G implementation. Their rates are cheaper and you get more for your money. Verizon it seems is always looking for more ways to squeeze you from your money, the 8830 GPS issue is just another example of it.

As soon as you get over yourself I will do the same, atleast I tell why I am such a fan of my carrier and what they have done great for me and everyone else in my family.
So have a wonderful day and enjoy your weekend sunshine.

I just ran a plan comparison and I cant get everything I have on verizon through sprint. SMS messing was limited to 1000 on my secondary users its unlimited on VZW the same data package for my secondary users was 5 dollars higher per line all in all the somewhat same service through sprint was 70.00 dollars higher a month and didnt get same stuff.

This is the same arguement that we had over devices only brought onto the carrier scale. Every person has a different experience with each carrier, what was a great 2 years of service for me could have been the worst for someone next door with the same carrier and same phone, just too many variables.
as for the new BBs, is anyone really excited with a wifi BB? I dont see a need other than Tmo @home, and even thats not appealing unless they offer cheaper plans to make up for the minutes not use because of the wifi calls and the $10 charge.

I see a great market for it in places like Canada where cellular data remains prohibitively expensive for most consumers, but wifi has decent penetration in urban areas. There must be other markets with the sames issues as ours. I could save 30-50% on my monthly cellular costs by downgrading my data plan and using cellular data only for push email, restricting web browsing and other data-heavy usage to when I'm on a campus or municipal network.
I understand why the carriers won't be excited about this.
