Default Computer does not know I have an 8700

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I am interested in getting the "infamous Zen theme" up and running.

I went to the forum dfor that and it tells me to modify my .alx file. Well, when I go to my .alx file it seems that my system does not know I have an 8700r. It still thinks I have a 7700.

I DID have an 7780 until about 2 months ago. I installed the lastest version of the Desktop software (version "4.1something").

What am I doing wrong? How do I get my system to know I have an 8700?

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Did you uninstall the old handheld software and run the app loader with the 8700 installed?

ummm .... No

Do you mean to actually go to Add/Remove programs .... remove Blacberry Desktop Manager ... then insert CD and run Desktop Manager setup?

If I go into my Add/Remove I have...

Blackberry Desktop Software 4.1
Blackberry v3.7 for the 7700 Series Wireless Handheld
Blackberry v4.0 for the 7700 Series Wireless Handheld

Do I remove all of these and then reinstall 4.1 and run Sync?

OK, I uninstalled the older versions .... I then went to App Loader and ran it. it says that thre are no new applications to add!

I continue to be embarrased as i am a definate Crack-Berry addict and this is probably a simply scenario. I am so not worthy of being so addicted to this BB.

It sounds like you never installed a copy of the 8700 handheld software to your PC. Go to here and get it http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...downloads.html.

Install it on your PC and Desktop Manager should list it in the apploader.

As posted above, you should probably uninstall the older versions from your computer first.

Keep yelling at the machine though. They need to be reminded who's boss.

Make sure you have your Blackberry Desktop Manager options > Connection settings > Set to USB or however you are connecting your phone.
