Lightbulb Installing or Removing A MicroSD Chip

Please Login to Remove!

Got another chip for my Pearl so thought it might be handy to post a tutorial on how to install or remove the chip, especially since the chip slot mechanism is very delicate. Guess the thread can be moved if this is not the right section for this.

I read somewhere online (I couldn't find it anymore) that you can drag files over to your Pearl using "My Computer" to your microsd. Similar to a USB flash drive. Does anyone know to do that? I can't find my pearl listed under my computer. It's a pain to open Deskop Manager, and use their Media Manager to copy files.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure 'Mass Storage Mode' is turned on. If it is and you still can't see the BB in My Computer, while the BB is connected to the PC, reboot the PC. It should see it when it boots back up.

also it seems to need the handheld software installed, any handheld software. I deleted the 7100 version whatever I had on the machine at work because I don't have that phone anymore and it no longer saw the pearl so I installed T-Mo's posted version and boom, there it was! good luck.

You are talking about XP recognizing the Pearl's memory or microSD chip as a "drive" and having the device's folder appear on your PC upon a connection with a USB cable.

Make sure everything is turned "on," on the Pearl. Also, do you have a microSD chip installed? I am not sure, but I don't think you can bypass DM to access the Pearl's internal memory. Mass Storage mode only opens the microSD chip.

To set the Pearl up:

<settings>

<advanced options>

<Media Card>

Turn <Media Card Support> to "on"

Turn "on" <Mass Storage Mode Support>

Say "Yes" to <Auto Enable Mass Storage...>

click <escape> key to get to <save> option

Scroll to "yes" and click trackball to save the settings.

I don't think installing a microSD is that tough.

A few people have reported not knowing where the chip is located.

A few people have reported getting a miniSD chip instead of a microSD chip.

By popular request, I uploaded the thread pics, again.

Make this a sticky since people have been having problems installing the chip?
