Default Yesterday my EDGE changed to edge

Please Login to Remove!

I have an unlocked 9500 on Tmobile.

Yesterday my EDGE changed to edge and will not come back.. I have:
- power cycled.
- Did hard resets.
- Reloaded OS
- Changed to a new SIM
- Called TMO and was on the phone for 2 hours and they said there was nothing wrong.
- Called RIM they says its service issue.

anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get my EDGE back.

Can you access the internet and use BlackBerry services normally? To me it sounds like an outage.

No I cannot access anything other then text or use the browser if I am connected to WIFI.

All my service books are gone, host tables are gone and because I cannot connect to the EDGE I cannot get them back.

Try going to Options/Advanced/Host Routing table and Press menu, Register now. See if that works.

Okay to me this sounds like a problem at tmo/RIM's end. For how long has it persisted?

Personally I would wait possibly another 48 hours and see if it is rectified by then. After then take it into a T-MO store or something and actually talk to someone face to face and they will probably be able to help you more than over the phone.

same happened to me in india--vodafone,,,,
Firstly, apologies if there is a similar thread - I did look around and did not find any specific one.

I bought an unlocked BB Storm 2 9550 in India (to be fair, it is a US Verizon BB Storm 2 9550 which has been unlocked). I used it for a moe than 8 months on service provider (Vodafone-Mumbai) and everything (email, bb messenger, browser, apps, etc) worked fine - the top right corner showed EDGE. It worked fully well all over India.

Yesterday suddenly EDGE bacame edge & everything stopped working. Vodafone BB support team has made me do everything ( remove simm battery, wipe the device, relaod the OS (currently i have hybrid ver 607),deleting and reinstalling the service books, send host routing table request and finally they also made me get a replacement SIM card,, but nothing helped.

Any advice please,,,,

After a few days of the edge staying small I decided to wipe the device and sell it on craigslist and bought a new one.

Now everything is ok again . . . kind of a lame way to get it fixed but it worked.

the girl who bought the old one from me put her ATT sim in the phone and it started up and worked fine.. it was VERY weird..

BE PATIENT IT WILL COME BACK... I HAD TRADED MY IPHONE FOR THE STORM2 WHEN I GOT IT THERE WAS ONLY edge I FIGURED I GOTTA GET BB SERVICE ON THERE... AFTER 48 HRS STILL ONLY edge... CALLED TMOBILE THEY COULDNT HELP... CALLED RIM.. THEY SENT ME BACK TO TMOBILE.... ALL IN ALL I SENT 2 EMAILS OUT TO RIM SAYING:

RIM: Thank you for contacting BlackBerry Customer Support.

The reason why you're unable to receive your service books is that you do not have BlackBerry Prosumer service from T-Mobile. I would highly suggest you contact T-Mobile to get this service re-activated. Once re-activated you will be able to get data service and your service books.

Your case will be mark as resolved since you have the resolution to this case, if you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

ME: No this is completely wrong. I have blackberry service on my plan. I
can get data service in any other BlackBerry Device except the storm.
Now rumor has it that at verizon request you guys are blocking
unlocked storms being used on tmobile. If this is so.. Please do say
so. So we stop going back and forth with this. This is so frustrating.
And I'm just about ready to drop blackberry as my handset or any
future consideration and cancel my service with tmobile as well. I'm
not the only one with this problem.

RIM: I do sincerely apologize for any confusion and inconvenience you have experienced so far. I checked the status of your data services, and you are correct, your BlackBerry is fully setup for data service. We have not blocked access to unlocked BlackBerry Storm devices at Verizon’s request. The issue you are experiencing would be in regards to an issue affecting some T-Mobile users with a BlackBerry Storm 9530 or BlackBerry Storm2 9550 smartphones. At this time, this is being investigate by T-Mobile, and we have not been provided with an estimated time for resolution to this issue.

Once again, I sincerely apologize for any miscommunication on this issue. If you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

AFTER 2 HOURS WALLA..... MY EDGE CAME BACK AND HAS BEEN EVER SINCE.... INSIST OR THEY WILL JUST GIVE EXCUSES.....
