DEAF blackberry Pearl?
Please Login to Remove!
So yesterday after making a call using a headset...suddenly my Pearl has gotten mute.
1) If I use the "voice dialing" feature before, a womans voice would say "say a command" and I could say the name, and it would reconfirm.
Now pressing the voice dialing, brings up the prompt, no womans voice nothing. I went to options and enabled everything (it was already enabled) but no luck :(
2) THe PROFILE is on loud, and it is vibrating but no noise from the ringer.
Did I hit some button to turn it all off or is something wrong with it?
Desperately need help.

Almost sounds like your speaker died on you, but thats hard to believe with such a new phone. It's funny because the whole reason I bought my pearl was because the mic on my old phone died. The phone worked absolutely fine minus the mic so people couldnt hear me when I called them or they called me then would just hang up on me.

Try taking the battery out for 30-60 seconds.

Took the battery out and put it in--everything is back to normal.
Talked to T Mobile Tech support, and they said this is a "known" issue and they are getting many cust. complaints.
They said to wait a week or two to get new software from RIM that should fix this problem.

On a similar subject, sort of: I have several MP3 tunes on my Pearl. I tried listening to them without headphones and I could hardly hear anything. I jacked up the volume but still can't hear much. Any ideas?

You don't. You can either download them, or you can install Desktop Manager 4.2 and use the Media Manager in it to move the mp3s over.

Really though, you need to get a microSD card because the normal size of an .mp3 wouldn't even be allowed to transfer to the device's memory anyways (something like a sub-three megabyte transfer per file).

To be honest, if you find me an mp3 that will sound better on this device at VBR 192-256kbps than it would at CBR 56kbps, then I'd be very surprised. At this bitrate, most full-length songs would be covered.

same thing happened to me
I would beware about your problem, as it happened to me. At first it was a temporary thing, but one day it got stuck, and wouldn't change. people couldnt' hear me, i couldn't hear them. speakerphone wouldn't work. the only way it i could make calls was using the headset. Bluetooth headset wouldn't work either. I reset, wiped the handset, reinstalled the core software, everything.

sigh it happend today again. I have my phone on "loud" profile all the time. Today instead of the whole sound/vibration going dead, only the sound went dead.
It was vibrating.
Had to takeoff and put on the battery again.
WTF is going on? If I have to do this every other day, what good is the pearl as a phone? :( :(
Help please

Are you using the original TMO OS, or have you loaded the Rogers OS?

Pretty sure this is a glitch in the TMO OS. Install the Rogers OS and see if that fixes the problem.

Sim card is fine.
It rings, but it only vibrates..and the sound goes off. THe key sound also goes off.
It is doing it at least 2 times a day, and I need to unhook and plug in the battery again.
Should I try the software from Rogers or take it back to T Mobile?

I would try the Rogers OS, it obviously can't make things any worse than what you have, and it may actually fix the issue. If it does not work, then take it back.
