i currently have nextel partners bb and am switching to sprints bb, but i don't want to lose my @nextel.blackberry.net email account as everyone i know has it. does anyone know if it's possible and if so how to go about having the email forwarded to my new sprint email account?

if you have/had sprint you know how big of a pain it's going to be to find someone who actually has a clue on how to do it if it's possible. so any help would be appreciated.

only thing i can recommend is to make sure Nextel completely deletes your old account - that way ppl will know not to use it as they'll get an email indicating that the address is not valid

i just got off the phone with a conference call between nextel tier 2 bb support, and sprint's advanced support and they both confirmed that even though it's a partners account with me porting my number over everything should go over without any problems. i stressed to them that i was concerned the email account would be closed and they assured me that it shouldn't be a problem, and if so then to call advanced support and they'd help me get it resolved.

i guess we'll see what happens on sunday when the number's ported. now i just wish there was a way to mass email everyone who's emailed me informing them of the new address.

This is why I don't use the @nextel.blackberry.net email address. I have all my email going to Gmail (or similiar) and have the BIS account pull it from there. Your Gmail account doesn't care what the @nextel.blackberry.net account is. This leaves you completely portable from one carrier to another.

that's what i'm planning on doing, but it's a little late now.

Agreed. Never use the BB device email directly. You found out one reason. The other is because if you get spam on it then you'll have a difficult time filtering it.

yeah i've had a gmail account for a while just never used it, but i'm opening my eyes now to see the benefits. i just got the phone today, but it'll be sunday before the number and email get ported.

whomever told you that you can keep that address if you move to another carrier, well, they are wrong..you can't do it...
