SO....the cingular store I'm talking about down the block from me, is the same as an ATT store? I need not look around more?
Yep. All the same now.

Sweet, cause that cingular store down the block is all tricked out and nice looking! Thanks for saying so. Now to wait until I can go down there and get this sweet little gadget!

I saw the pics that tmag posted over on crackberry and the phone looks great.

Have you ever worked retail? You wouldn't be surprised if you had... ;)

Default BlackBerry 8300

He is correct.... I have a client with RIM, who held training for the BlackBerry 8300 2 weeks ago. It will be released on AT&T at the end of May.

My question is how long before it's released on T-Mobile..... ?

There are no "turns". It's up to the carrier to pay for the exclusive release rights if the carrier wants those rights.

So far, TMO has only jumped for exclusives on SureType devices (7100, 8100) while at&t has sprung for the full qwerty devices (7290, 8700, 8800). There's no telling whether or not TMO will go for an exclusive on the 83xx family. It seems doubtful assuming that the rumors out there are true. Just keep in mind that they are just rumors and we won't know anything with any certainty until carriers start making official announcements.

Tell me about it, it feels like the end of May will never come! I hope this thing even has a May release date, at this time not a peep from AT&T about a release date! We're all goin on pure speculation right now! Blackberry said spring for AT&T, well spring ends on June 21st. I hope they don't hold out that long to drop this baby!

Just for the hell of it ,I just called AT&T to see if they had any clue as to when we will see the Curve getting released. I guess it was positive that the girl knew what phone I was talking about, but then shot me down by telling me to look for a release towards the middle of June. Again pure speculation from all ends! UGHH is all I have to say!!!

She brought up a good point though that is consistent with another post I saw on the forum. If Versizon is releasing 8830 in Mid May, they obviously have the exclusive rights contract. Why isn't Cingular releasing it first? iPhone exclusivity. Rep said that Verizon will position new Blackberry as the competing phone as Cingular begins selling iPhone.

Cingular Rep put me on hold and called Blackberry. The BB rep said she did nt have any information as to when Cingular would carry the 8830.

Bad news for me really... I need a new Blackberry as mine has broken. I went into Cingular store and grabbed a Treo 750 and I HATE this garbage. Looks like I'm going back for the Biz class 8800.

Hope this helps.
Don't give up so easily. Try loading the new virtual device from RIM. You will then have the best of both worlds .....Or is it just the clash of the titans all over again?

Cingular / AT&T is a GSM based carrier & will _never_ have the 8830. Cingular / AT&T uses the GSM only 8800.

The reason is the only difference between the 8800 and 8830 is the network that it runs on. The 8800 is a GSM only device, whereas the 8830 is a CDMA & GSM device for carriers like Sprint.

Other than that, they look exactly the same, they function exactly the same. There is no difference.

Cheers

2mp camera is a big difference in my book, along with built in spell checking, and a better all around build quality than the 8800.

edit: oops i thought we were still talking about the 8300 here...this post has become confusing.

True, the end of spring will not be upon us for a while, much like you, I hope that it doesn't take that long to be released. If so, it's out of our hands obviously, though geez, how I need an updated phone!!!!!!!

I don't remember when I called, maybe a week-week.5 ago...and one of the reps at cing told me that she had never heard of the phone. So, I'm glad to hear that a rep. new that the ph9one was on it's way at some point. Baby steps!

I dont think RIM ever released a new model in europe before US or Canada.Whats going on here? The US carriers have not even announced a release date. Is it possible for AT&T to release it May 24th as per rumors without even acknowleging the model exists???
