Default 8700c, remove IT policy - UNABLE

Please Login to Remove!

Can someone tell me what's going on with my device? Bought it on eBay, trying to disable the IT policy.

Tried the steps shown here:
Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ
Not only did I wipe the device, but repeated the procedure with completely re-installing the device OS, v4.1.0.377.

When I go to Options / Security / General Settings, there's nothing shown for IT policy at all. 5 lines only: Password, security timeout, lock handheld..., content protection, content compression.

In Options / Status, it initially shows the standard 6 lines of status info, but when I press "B U Y R", it shows: Data Usage: IT Policy Enabled, and Voice Usage: IT Policy Enabled.

Many thanks in advance for any insights...

I don't think the fix actually removes the "IT Policy" It just makes it so that you are no longer under any of the possible restrictions that a policy can invoke.

In my "new" 8700c it says: IT Policy Name: Default. No SIM, no service.
What may it mean?

It means you have an IT Policy on the device.

You said "new". Where did you purchase it from? Is it a corporate-provided device?

It means your device was previously connected to a BES server and an IT Policy was applied. No way to know what restrictions the policy may or may not apply.

I had the same issue a few months ago when i purchased an 8310 off of craigslist. There was an IT Policy that was implemented on the device, but fortunately for me...there were no restrictions (not to my knowledge).
