Default Weather Radar

I would be interested in hearing what sites you use to view Radar on your 8700. I've been using Cingular's Media net Radar and it blows. I would like to find something with Radar Loop.

Thanks for any input!

Try going to your local news station 'mobile' site. Or you can go to 6abctogo Home and click on weather/animated radar. Just enter your zip code and you should be all set. I have bookmarked 2 pages (w/different zip codes) and it seems to work well!

I used this when I was down at Disney in June to track Tropical Storm Alberto and see if around when the next batch of pop-up showers would, well...pop-up!!

I utilize a pretty good way to get a local radar:

I went to my local news station's website and clicked on the weather portion. I was then able to click on the weather radar map for "show image." When the image loaded up, it was an accurate, up to date radar image zoomed in for my exact city.

I then bookmarked it in the browser and anytime I need it, I just load it up from the bookmarks. Sometimes I have to load the bookmark, then hit refresh to get the latest but it is free, quick, and accurate.

best of luck!

If you get the actual URL for the Weather Underground animated radar you'll see in the URL that it has code for the radius, latitude, longitude, and screen resolution. Definitely tinker with the screen resolution to match your Blackberry model (if not the other parameters too)!

For example, for Houston, TX on a Blackberry 8700:
http://radblast.wunderground.com/cgi...1&r=1158083101

I also decreased the radius on mine to about 80 as the default of 124 is a bit more regional than what I want.

Default Wunderground animated site

Also try:

mobile.wunderground.com/auto/mobile/SC/North_Myrtle_Beach.html?feature=animatedzoomradar

substitute your state and city in the obvious areas or plug in the NWS doppler radar sites. And bookmark, of course!

Just realized you can use state and zipcode rather than city name in the above url.

Like some other's have said, mobile.weatherunderground is my favorite. Another tip with using this is once the image is up, bring up "select" on the trackwheel menu and highlight the radar image (dashed line around exterior), you can then choose full image which increases the resolution enough to zoom in quite a bit. I find that I can use this method to have a "county level" view. This site also has the show storm track feature and a loop as well.
