Default Failure to load 4.0 on Blackberry 7290

Please Login to Remove!

I have several blackberries here and wanted to load 4.0 and some of them did well, and only one refuses to load 4.0

It is unlocked Cingular branded phone. When I start loader and connect to blackberry it says that "no system software were found on your device contact your system administrator or service provider for information obtaining device system software."

When i load other blackberries it all goes smoothly no problems at all.

Where I go wrong?

Please help.

Thank you!

Try using JavaLoader to completely erase the OS from the BlackBerry. After that happens you will get a 507 error. Fire up Desktop Manager, then Application Loader, and finally try loading the OS again.

I wrote a batch file called JL_Cmder to make using JavaLoader a bit easier. You can find it HERE.

You can not erase the vendor branding under any circumstances.
You can not make a Cingular branded BB "100% T-Mobile"

JavaLoader will erase everything (except a BES IT Policy). Imagine formatting a floppy disk. Yes, you can install the T-Mobile branded OS on your BlackBerry instead of the Cingular one. Download the T-Mobile branded OS from their website. You also have to delete the vendor.xml file from your Desktop Manager install. If you have any problems, read the sticky thread on installing the OS.

Javaloader does not remove Vendor branding. It never has.

When you power on the BB it will still show the original vendor.

Right now I am running the Hong Kong 8700 code on an unlock 8700 using a T-Mobile SIM. And the Cingular splash screen still comes up.

I disagree with you d_fisher.

I stand corrected. I was thinking more about the theme related branding. Never even thought about the ROM splash screen.
